The Iconic, a major Asia-Pacific fashion retailer, has announced the beta launch of its new virtual try-on experience for consumers, developed in partnership with a market-leading augmented-reality platform Wanna.by.
The new feature, which is called Visualise, utilises cutting-edge AR technology to project virtual 3D sneakers onto users’ feet via their smartphone screen. Users can access it by pressing the AR icon above the sneaker styles that have the try-on feature enabled. After being prompted to «frame their feet» using the smartphone camera, they will see a 3D projection of their chosen kicks superimposed onto their own feet. With just a few taps, users can take a photo or video of their try-on experience and save or share it from The Iconic app.
At launch, Visualise offered shoppers access to over 50 virtual sneakers from selected brands including Nike, Adidas and Reebok, with plans to add more styles to the feature over the coming weeks and, possibly, expand it across accessories.
The Iconic chief technology officer Zoe Ghani said Visualise was a game changer.
«We truly believe this launch is game-changing for online retail as it helps bridge the online / offline gap for shoppers who want the experience of trying on footwear before they buy», she said.
